Each piece we make in our Tribeca, New York studio is meticulously crafted by hand to reflect Satomi's vision of beauty, individuality, and elegance in a unique way. One such creation is our One-of-a-Kind Rose Cut Diamond Signet Ring, a bold design whose character comes from each of the hands that it took to craft it.
The journey begins with the selection of the diamond. Satomi is partial to subtle hues and raw, unusual beauty and always tries to capture these characteristics in her designs. The rose cut, with its flat bottom and domed top, enhances the diamond’s natural character, allowing the light to play across its surface in a way that showcases its inclusions and unique features.
Satomi starts the creation process of the ring by hand carving it out of wax, keeping the silhouette bold yet refined, and allowing the diamond to take center stage.
The next step involves using the lost wax casting method to transform the carved wax model into a ring. The wax model is encased in a material like plaster, which hardens around the wax. The wax is then melted out, leaving a hollow cavity. Molten 18K gold is poured into this cavity, creating the raw casting once the metal has cooled and solidified. It is then shaped, filed, and the stone set by hand.
Once the stone is set, the ring is carefully finished in a way that keeps its organic, handmade look, while bringing out each unique feature, for a truly One-of-a-Kind piece.
The finished ring is more than just jewelry—it’s a celebration of the unique imperfections that define true beauty. Every detail is thoughtfully crafted to create a piece as distinctive as the individual who wears it, becoming a timeless treasure to be cherished for generations.
