Celebrating Diamonds

Diamonds have always been at the heart of what we do at Satomi Kawakita Jewelry — from the brilliant-cut stones in our bridal collections to the quieter, more unexpected diamonds that Satomi hand-selects for our One-of-a-Kind pieces.

The diamond is a stone so widely known it can be easy to overlook just how varied, and how personal, it can be.

Before founding Satomi Kawakita Jewelry, Satomi spent years as a professional diamond setter, working closely with stones every day. That time gave her a deep familiarity with what makes a diamond feel truly One-of-a-Kind, not just technically well-graded, but genuinely alive with character.

One-of-a-Kind Diamonds

The way a diamond is cut has everything to do with how it feels to wear. Cutting has evolved over centuries, from the earliest shapes in the 1300s, which simply followed the stone's natural form, to the Renaissance, when cutters began flattening the top to open up the stone's depth and let more light through. By the 1700s, the rose cut had emerged: a softly domed stone with a flat base, designed to glow rather than sparkle.

Then came the brilliant cut in the early 20th century, engineered to maximize light and fire, and it quickly became the standard we know today. But it was never the only option. Cuts like the emerald, cushion, and princess each catch light differently, sit differently on the finger, and carry a different feeling altogether. The cut is not just a technical choice. It's the stone's personality made visible.

One-of-a-Kind Antique Cut Diamond Collection

When she selects stones for a collection, Satomi doesn't begin with rules. She lets the stone lead. She looks for color, the way a stone carries warmth, or holds a soft grey haze, or shifts in different light. She considers whether the cut feels right for that particular stone. And she pays close attention to natural inclusions, the small internal marks that grading scales often treat as flaws, but that Satomi sees as part of what makes each stone irreplaceable.

"What draws me to One-of-a-Kind diamonds is their color. Each stone carries its own hue, its own warmth, its own quiet presence. Each cut carries its own character, each diamond its own expression." — Satomi Kawakita

For those who are drawn to brilliant cut diamonds for a more significant moment, two of our most beloved collections are made with exactly that in mind.

The Signature Hexagon collection, a collection that has been with us since the beginning, first introduced in 2010, brings together the geometry of the hexagonal shape with the subtle details of antique jewelry.

Signature Hexagon Collection

Set with brilliant-cut white and brown diamonds in rings, necklaces, and earrings, this is Satomi's artful take on classic diamond jewelry. The hexagonal bezel setting frames each stone with a sense of antiqueness and quiet charm, giving the brilliant cut a character that feels entirely her own.

Grand Brown Diamond Triple Hexagon Ring

The Vow Collection is designed to be worn from the moment you say yes, featuring brilliant-cut white and brown diamonds in solitaire and triple styles. Satomi's minimal take on the classic prong setting engagement ring, each piece is thoughtfully designed for comfort, capturing the magic of the moment as you take your first steps toward "I Do" and every day that follows.
